Privacy policy

Last updated

In short: PatinaCAD has no account and no sign-in, and your patterns stay on your computer: they are never uploaded. To know how many people use them, this website and PatinaCAD count page visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and collects nothing that identifies you.

What PatinaCAD keeps, and where

PatinaCAD runs in your web browser, on your computer. Everything you make with it stays there:

  • Your patterns. As you work, PatinaCAD keeps a copy in your browser's own storage on your computer, so your work is still there if the browser closes. When you save, the pattern is written to a file in a folder you choose.
  • Your settings and libraries. Options, pricking irons, thread colours, line types and templates are kept in your browser's storage on your computer.
  • Images you add. Photos, scans and PDF pages you trace over are kept inside the pattern. Other photos you add are kept in your browser's storage. Both stay on your computer.
  • Copied shapes. When you copy shapes, they go to your computer's clipboard, and your browser keeps a copy so you can paste them into another tab.

None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. We can't see your patterns.

What PatinaCAD doesn't do

  • No account, no sign-in and no email address.
  • No tracking from site to site, and no advertising.
  • No cookies.
  • No uploads: your patterns are never stored online.

Counting visits

This website and PatinaCAD use Vercel Web Analytics, from our host, to count visits. For each page opened it records the page's address (without anything after a ? or #), the site you came from, your country, and the kind of browser, operating system and device. It sets no cookies, keeps nothing that identifies you, and can't recognise you from one day to the next. Nothing about your patterns is ever part of it. Vercel describes what it collects in its Web Analytics privacy notes.

What your browser may ask you

In Chrome and Edge, PatinaCAD can save your work straight back to the pattern file you're working on. Your browser asks your permission first, and asks again after the page is reloaded. You can withdraw it at any time in the browser's settings for the site. Firefox and Safari don't offer this, so there, saving downloads a copy of the file instead.

This website

This website sets no cookies and loads no scripts or fonts from other companies (the visit counter above comes from this website's own address). It has no forms and asks you for nothing.

Logs kept by the host

The website and PatinaCAD reach your browser from a hosting provider, like any web page. When your browser asks for a page or for the program's files, the host may keep standard access logs: your IP address, the date and time, the address requested and your browser's name and version. Hosts use these logs to keep their service running and secure. The logs never contain your patterns, because your patterns never leave your computer.

Removing PatinaCAD's data from your computer

We hold nothing that identifies you, so there's nothing for us to delete. To remove what PatinaCAD keeps in your browser, clear the site data for PatinaCAD in your browser's settings.

Save any pattern you want to keep as a file first: clearing site data removes the copy in your browser, along with your settings and libraries. Pattern files you saved stay where you put them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, this page will show the new version and the date at the top will change. The terms of use cover the rest of how PatinaCAD may be used.
